Orthopaedics : Treatment and Surgery

The Department of Orthopedics mainly focuses on joint replacement. It has till date done the highest no. of knee, hip and shoulder replacements in the state of Goa in the private sector. Excellence in surgical techniques, high quality implants, a well equipped operation theatre and good operation theatre discipline has synergistically given an international level of post-operative results. 99% of the post-operative patients walk within 48 hours of the surgery. The joint replacement theatre has maintained the infection rates far below the international level of 0.1%. Most of our patients have happy pain-free memories of joint replacements. The maximum stay of patients after joint replacement has been 4-5 days after surgery. All surgeries are done under regional anesthesia. Less than 2% of the patients need a blood transfusion. The patient leads a normal life for the next 15-20 years, which involves swimming, running, playing tennis or golf.

Minimal Invasive Fracture Management

Fracture fixation using minimal invasive surgery, early mobilization of the limbs, has been another feather in our cap. Minimal uses of plaster immobilization, biological healing of fractures, minimal soft tissue handling has given good results with minimal stiffness and post-operative physiotherapy.

Spine Surgeries

Spine, includes one of the most common orthopedic complaints and so also are the procedures performed at our department. It undertakes routinely spinal surgeries namely microdiscectomies, laminectomies, laminectomy with discectomy, spinal fusion surgeries, spinal fixation with pedicular screws and rods, vertebroplasters in osteoporotic compression fractures, metastasis, etc. Read More

Key Hole Surgery (Arthroscopy)

Arthroscopy is undertaken on a day-to-day basis. Most of the patients do it on a OPD (Out Patient Department) basis. Surgeries include diagnostic arthroscopy, joint lavage, ACL/PCL reconstruction, shoulder, ankle arthroscopy and repairs.
